The classroom where lessons are held.
The motto of the school, 就是成功 , which means successful.
Had our lunch after lessons and went to visit the school of information engineering and school of life sciences. We visited the information engineering school first. It's a long journey to reach there especially when the weather got worst.
School of Information Engineering
One of the lecturers explaining on the things that are displayed in the room.
Saw engineering related machines and circuits. The lecturers there have also explained how certain machines can work. For example: The conveyer belt or the machine that have the most important function of a handphone which is to send a message. We visited rooms to rooms to listen to explanations by the lecturers about a certain product/experiment/machine. I feel that i've gained more knowledge because engineering is not something which i'm interested in and have never really learn in depth before.
After visiting the school of information engineering, we headed to the school of life science which is the very very very end of the school campus.

Beds with fake people lying on the bed.
Looks kind of scary.
Shows the muscles of a fake human body.
For air pollution.

Candid shot of Angela and i.
The most scary and unforgettable event that happened there was when we enter a room with exhibit of real human body parts( example: intestines and etc) and dead baby. In the first place, i do not know a single thing about it until i was told by the lecturers there. I even took pictures of the dead baby. This is not the worst part of all. Then, we were told by angela that her friends who came to visit this room before, told her that right after they took the pictures of the dead baby, their camera were spoilt. So, i hurried to delete the pictures and so as to respect them . I have never really seen a dead baby before and was really shocked as i have never expect anyone or any person will keep a dead baby in a glass box and placed them in the cupboard for exhibition or experiment. I'm not sure if this is cruel but when i heard that they were taken out from the mother's womb after they are dead, it was eerie and i felt pitiful for them.
Tuesday
Usual normal studying day. A total of 6 hours of discrete mathematic and big heavy and sleepy eyes. Went to canteen two for dinner and got Singapore Bao Zai Fan. It does not taste like singapore food at all but eventually still a china dish. It's twenty times more salty than singapore food. I miss hokkien noodle, popiah from singapore and mom's delicious soup.
Wednesday
Large group of people gathering together for some event. Maybe for their national day which is on the 10th of October.
The weather suddenly turned cold. It made me felt like as if i am in genting. Had our first 3 hours of discrete mathematics and quickly headed to canteen four for hot and delicious dumplings. If it is possible, i will want to ship all these dumpling back to singapore and let my parents try it. I think they will love it.
Thursday
The weather was crazy. It was cold yesterday and it became hot today. Had our first IS lecture today. The lecturer is a pretty lady with cute english accent. We were taught on the history, geography and culture of hubei and wuhan. The popular food, special occasions or festivals and the interesting facts on china's history. After the lecture by her, i have the urge to watch the movie ( Chi Bi ) - Red Cliff Battle. I think that all the characters are very interesting. I think what makes china one of the most visited country for vacations or holidays are the historical sites and the history of all the renowned war and past.
They were the past which we will never get to experience and our curiousity makes it attractive to us. People are always interested in what, how and why things happen and i'm one of those people.
So, after we got tempted by the lecturer on the popular food in wuhan. We went to the streets and get all the yummy-looking snacks and drinks.
The delicious jelly drink.
Mei Chai Kou Rou Da Bing.
Friday
Had the second IS lecture on business etiquette and manners. The lecturer can speak english really well. I took down notes in case there is any sudden quiz or text for the IS module.
Crazy Isabel.
After the lessons, we headed for lunch and i had guang zhou chang fen for lunch. It tastes like chee cheong fun in singapore except that in wuhan, they have alot more variety of the food. Very spicy but addictive.

Night life of wuhan.
Saturday
Woke up early and bused to our first destination which is the east lake. The scenery is beautiful and the wind is super strong. There is a Qu Yuan stone statue somewhere in the east lake park for photo taking and a two storey building that have many pictures on the wall illustrating the story of Qu Yuan.
It is known that Qu Yuan is a chinese scholar and minister to the King from the southern Chu during the Warring States Period. Seeing the corruption of his colleagues and the inability of his king, Qu Yuan then exiled himself and finally committed suicide in the Miluo River when Qin defeated Chu in 278 BC. His death is traditionally commemorated on DuanWu Festival (端午节/端午節), which is commonly known in English as the Dragon Boat Festival or Double Fifth (fifth day of the fifth month of the traditional Chinese Calendar).
To me, i feel that Qu Yuan is a talented person. He is calm and clever. He loves his country so much that he choose to die with his country. We should do the same too but of course not to extend of exiling ourselves. Singaporeans should be proud of our country and everyone of us should have a responsibility to the country.
Entrance of East Lake.
After visiting the east lake, we went to the Hubei Provincial Museum which is located just next to the East Lake Park. I particularly love museums because museum exhibits ancient items and from these items, we can know the background and some important details of the history. The museum has a collection of more than 140,000 piecs of cultural heritages. There is a total of 12 halls and the exhibitions display the long history and splendid culture of Hubei.
Bronze sword of Guo Jian, King of Yue.
A true fact on people dying in the past. In the old days, china have the culture of accompanying your spouse or any blood-related person to die with you. The smallest age to ' Pei Zhang', which is to die with your loved one, can be at 16 years old or younger. They have one big outer coffin to protect the inner coffin and the body of the dead.
I wonder how it would be like if such culture still exist until now. What is the feeling of the person who is accompanying someone dear to him or her to die? Is it willingly?
Beautiful gold belt.
Inner coffin.
At noon, went for lunch at an area where many popular food or snacks from wuhan are sold. So, the greedy us spent around 60 Rmb on food.
Wu Chang fish, Tang Bao, Dan Dan mian and etc.
After lunch, we set off to the our last destination which is the yellow crane tower. Looking at the tower from any angle, you will see shapes of a crane. It is destroyed for two times and rebuild to have such a new look of the tower :
It looks as though there is five levels only. However, it has a total of 9 levels but thankfully, after renovations, there are lifts available.
Written by Li Bai, using incredible to describe the yellow crane tower.
Depicts the story of Lu Dong Bin flying away with the crane.
Lu Dong Bin is one of eight immortals.
Yellow Crane Tower is a place where incredible stories happened here. The crane that can fly, dance and entertain the customers when you clap your hands, the man who eats free food and wine and drew a yellow crane on the wall is actually lu dong bin , li bai and cui hao, etc. If all these stories are true, i think china is a really amazing country with amazing histories.
Sunday
In the morning, we went to the riverside park of yangtze river. Wind is strong and saw many colourful and pretty kites. Their river is really clean compared to the ones in singapore. The place is quite similar to East Coast park and it is much cooler and windy. It is definitely a good place to fly a kite or cycling.
Wan Yuan and Isabel.
Xianhui and I
The best part of the day is shopping! We went to Bu Xing jie and Jiang Han Road Shopping Mall. I spent almost $70 SGD. Bought clothes and accesories for family and myself. The prices of their clothes are really low and cheap. In singapore, even if it is just a plain t-shirt, it will cost around $20. In china, clothes or jeans sold here per piece is only about $7. You can bargain the price like as if you are in a market but if you are in singapore, there is no way we can bargain. We have to pay the fixed original price. I guess all these will be the differences between singapore and china for shopping.
The street.
Bronze statue depicts some old culture in china.
There are at times the weather will be very hot. People will bring their bamboo bed to sleep outside. This can improve the relationship between the neighbours.
In the taxi with xianhui, isabel and jiahao.
At Guang Gu Guang Chang. ( The girls)
REFLECTION/EXPERIENCE
I had two really bad incidents or experience this week. Firstly, it was at the kfc restaurant. Angela and i queued for our food and when it was about our turn, a china man tried to cut into the queue. So, i quickly order our food because it seemed like the girl serving us wanted to serve that china man and not us. But, guess what happened the next moment? That girl said something really fast and simply walked away from the counter and stop serving us. I am totally pissed off so we had no choice but to queue again. This incident made me realize how fortunate i am to be living in singapore with high serving standard. I was also told that in china, people don't queue and if accidentally you have been cut queue by someone else, you can't even quarrel with them. The experience was really bad.
The second incident happened on sunday when some of the girls and i were at around some shopping mall and decided to had lunch at Da Niang Jiao Zi. There is no one cutting my queue this time round. However, we waited for half an hour for our food. We kept seeing the waitress serving the china people first who came later than us. How can it be possible when we arrive earlier than them and they receive their food first? We waited and waited until we had no more patience and went to the counter to get our refund for our food.
To me, it feels like they are biased to their local people and that they will only serve us only after they are done serving all the local china people.
Will update week three next week.
